Trueroots offering 100% extra talktime Coupon to Call India

Truroots a tata enterprise product and one of the leading cheap calls to India service is offering 100% free extra talktime when you buy one of their packs, but is it still cheap?

Trueroots has been in business for last couple of years and have gained significant market especially in USA, however sometimes it boggles my mind that its owned by Tata, one of the largest telecom providers in India and the calling rates to India are at 5.8 cents per minute? Are we living in 2007 or 2010?

So with the new disounted rates (available only till 17th october which is today), you will get 100% extra talktime, which makes the effective rate to Call india fall down to 2.9 cents per minute.

I strongly feel 2.9 minutes is even not worth it since we got VOIP Providers like Localphone or fastvoip offering close to 1 cent per minute now.

Are you using trueroots, then let us know why you still prefer trueroots over other cheaper providers.

Download Skype for Android App

Skype has finally released their much awaited Android Skype App. Skype is now available on a wide range of Android phones.

With the new Skype Android app, you can make free Skype-to-Skype calls and send and receive IMs for free, one-to-one or with a group. You can also call phones at Skype’s great rates over WiFi or 3G.

All your existing skype account will work on your Skype android app as well.

You can download Skype from the Android Market, or from Skype.com/m on your phone. You’ll need Android OS 2.1 or later. In order to check android version, go to Settings > About. If you don't have Android OS 2.1+, update your OS first before installing skype android app.

Skype blog also mentioned following restrictions on the Androip app.

  1. Skype is not available in the Android Market in China or Japan.
  2. Skype has been tested on HTC and Motorola devices with Android OS 2.1 and above. It may work on other Android phones, but we can’t guarantee full functionality or compatibility. We’re aware of some problems with the Samsung Galaxy S, and we’re looking to address these in the future.
  3. It’s free to use Skype in a WiFi zone. If you use Skype with a mobile data connection, operator charges may apply, so we recommend an unlimited data plan.
  4. In the US, you can make calls only over WiFi.
  5. A fair use policy applies to unlimited subscriptions.

Free Calls to Over 50 Countries for 5 Minutes Per Call

Its time to bring back the glory of Free Calls anywhere in the world. Today, we look at one solid provider to make totally free calls to over 50 countries including India for over 5 minutes per call.

Our regular reader Yogesh Chauhan has shared this new provider with us a few days back and since then, I have been testing this new Free VOIP service before posting it today and it works as advertised. Freephone2phone.com is a new free voip phone service which offers totally free phone calls to over 50 countries.

Technically, this phone service is only available in USA (probably Canada).

How do i use Freephone2phone to make free calls?
  1. Pickup your phone
  2. Call one of the Freephone2phone local access numbers listed on their website
  3. Now make calls to over 50 countries. Each call is limited to 5 minutes and disconnects automatically after 5:30 seconds as they give you a short reminder beep at 5 minutes.
Why would Freephone2phone offer this service for free?
The logic is simple, they make money when you call their access numbers either via your landline or mobile. There is something called interconnect charge which they recover from your operation and make money from it.

If you have a long distance plan or one of those unlimited free calls plan on your local or mobile phone, then this free phone service really works great.

Please note, that most US providers only allow upto 3000 minutes of free calls from landline phones.

Can you call the same number over and over? Yes, it works but only if you have patience to go over this again :-)

Since Freephone2phone reads your caller id before letting you make calls, its not possible to use this service from outside of USA. Well technically not, But when you visit VOIP Guide you know you find a solution, ALWAYS!

Now Listen to me carefully, this will work as long as you have a working Google Voice account. This can be either from your gmail or gtalk. Just use that account to make calls, as Google Voice always displays a local US number and your call goes through.

This is tried and tested method and it works. Enjoy making some free calls to the world including India. Do Let us know your feedback and if this is working for you.
