Microsft Gives VOIP capabilities to new VISTA

According to a recent buzz in the VOIP space, Microsoft is gearing up to launch into the VoIP market early next year, combining VoIP, video conferencing, email and instant messaging into one Windows Vista product.

According to media reports, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer outline the new plan in Japan earlier this week saying that the new service would be tied into the company’s operating system as well as being integrated with server and desktop applications.

After acquiring the start-up Teleo in late 2005, Microsoft has been continuosly exploring the VOIP space. Initially, MSN messenger was to get the VOIP capabilities, however later it was given up considering the fact that it wont be able to standout against Skype.

My impression is that now they are tring to bundle it with Vista office to give VOIP + video conferencing facilities which can be used for Presentations etc.
