Skype extends half rate calls to India

With more and more VOIP providers offering free or cheaper voip calls around the globe, its putting a lot of pressure on veteran VOIP provider, Skype. Best known for being making VOIP popular to the masses, Skype is surely lagging behind on the new VOIP scene.

Every VOIP provider today is taking the Indian market way too seriously, well they have to take Indian voip market seriously if they want to survive in this competitive market. Why? Simply because India will literally call shots in the next decade. Every single consumer product, retail outlet will have to keep the indian consumer in mind and make products. VOIP can't be an exception and it seems VOIP companies have realised the potential of india market and huge Non resident indian population living abroad.

Skype had been offering 50% cheaper calls to India and Pakistan since last month and now that promotion is over. However, Skype has decided to extend the promotion for India only. It seems their pakistan offer wasn't that successful. So now users can continue to get 50% cheaper rate to anywhere in india including mobile phones. This is a good news for people who already have credit and if you don't have this could be a good excuse to start making calls with Skype.

Skype is still regarded one of the best VOIP softphones in the market. Their voice quality surpasses most of the other VOIP providers and with 50% discounted rates, it seems all good for a try.

So go wild and make Skype calls to india at 50% cheaper rate.
