We discussed cheap international calls a few days back. How about ultra cheap calls? Yes, its actually possible to get it cheaper than the cheapest phone calls.
Rebtel, a Mobile VOIP provider has extended its holiday offer till Jan 16, which will allow you to make Cheap international phone calls. Though the link mentions that the offer is valid until Jan 10, I have received a mail from Rebtel saying that the offer has been extended till Jan 16. I can forward a copy of the mail to anyone who is interested (just write your address in the comment section below). Under this offer customer making a payment for the first time will receive thrice the credit, i.e. if you put $10 in your account your account will be credited with $30.
We have written about Rebtel earlier and it is better than the Betamax services in terms of customer service, interface and technology. Agreed that the rates are little higher than some of the Betamax services for some locations, but with three times the credit Rebtel is better than any Betamax rates.
Consider for example, the call rates for India are 5.6 c/min (USD) and if you divide it by three the rate becomes 1.87 c/min, which is cheaper than any service available currently. Whatever normal rates are, just divide them by 3.Thats your effective calling rate since you are 3 times the credit.
