3Jam a Google Voice alternative review

Google Voice is certainly making headlines across the world. Why not? Its one of the most coolest VOIP Phone Services to hit the market. However people outside USA ain't yet lucky enough to use Google Voice.

Google will certainly open up Google Voice to the world, but when? No one knows the answer. Till Google decides to get out of the US Beta of Google Voice, another VOIP service provider is trying to sneak into the market with almost the same features. Its called 3Jam.

Although 3jam has been around since 2006, its recently caught up media attention. Lets quickly look at what 3Jam offers:

3jam

1) A 3Jam Virtual Number like google voice number but you can port your own number as 3jam number unlike google voice. You can also choose a new number.

2) Route calls to Skype/IM.

3) Call forwarding and simultaneous ring

4) Voicemail with visual transcription (Very similar interface to Google Voice Inbox)

5) The bad part-3Jam is not FREE. 3Jam isn't Google who can absorb cost of running this service. They charge $4.99 per month for a 12 month plan or $8.99 for 1 month plan to use this service.

6) Its available anywhere in the world unlike Google Voice.

Although, 3jam can be close replacement of Google Voice, its still not good enough to beat it. Google Voice will remain as the winner even though apple rejects it :-)

Will you use 3jam over Google Voice or will just wait for Google Voice to open for everyone? Do let us know.
