Telcan.com Telcan Unlimited India Calling VOIP Provider Review

After Vonage introduced the Vonage World Plan which included India Unlimited Calls, It seems lot of "run of the mill" VOIP Providers trying to duplicate Vonage World Plan. Before you buy Telcan India Unlimited Plan, You must read our Telcan.com Review.

As you already know, Puting your hard earned money into a VOIP Phone services isn't a cakewalk anymore with new VOIP Providers launching every week and vanish the next month. How would you choose your VOIP Provider? Thankfully, you are reading VOIP Guide and we can help you choose the right VOIP Provider for your needs.

Today we are looking at Telcan.com. Telcan claims to offers unlimited calls to India plan for a flat monthly fee of $29.99.

Lets do a Telcan Review.

1) Telcan charges you $29.99 as start-up One time Fee.
2) Monthly fee of #34 ($29.99 + $4 tax) as long as you continue.
3) Telcan offers their VOIP service through local access numbers.
4) There is no contract between you and telcan. You may cancel the service. They claim there are no cancellation fees.
5) With telcan unlimited india plan, you can dial any number in India including landline and Mobile.
6) Telcan has a phone and email support, which is good.

Now, Lets see why Telcan probably isn't suitable for you.

1) No SIP service or Support.
2) Available only via Access numbers
3) You need to register your number from where you can make calls telcan access number.
4) You can't change your authorized number during the month. Only 1 change per month.

I have also reviewed a Telcan.com review from VOIP Guide reader, Karthik. Lets see what he has to say about Telcan.

This is Karthik here. Today I received a mail from from this Telcan.com informing me about their new Unlimited Indian Calling feature. This works exactly like a calling card hence no contract issues.

But the flip side is,

  • Calls have to originate from a pre designated phone number. Hence you cannot share your plan with your friends or Family.
  • It will cost you about $34 a month. Setting aside the Betamax if we compare this with a regular calling card which costs about 1.2 cents per minute it will translate to abt 48 Hrs a month ( hope my calculation is right ). I just checked my usage per month and it does not exceed 25hrs and the total talktime of my room mate and friends is about 25hrs. Looks like this plan will be great if we have a free local calling plan ( any time unlimited , unlike unlimited after 9:00 PM ) from Vonage or other similar plan and sharing with my room mates with Time division Multiplexing in place :) but remember there is an additional cost associated with Local calling plan.
  • Telcan does not offer a local number for all states in US and Canada.

In my view, This is a very deceiving calling card plan. Hope you can share this with your readers on blog.

Thanks Karthik for sharing his thoughts on Telcan. I believe his points are to be noted by people who do not exceed the calling limit each month and can save money on these unlimited india calling plans.

Secondly, I wanted to add that those who wish to call Telcan access numbers can make use of Google Voice for calling outside your state to save money :-)

Please let us know your Telcan Review , Feedback and comments.
