LocalPhone is one of our favorite VOIP Providers right from the first day we reviewed them, As many of you already know I am big fan of LocalPhone.
Localphone recently announced that they started offering a new SMS service in addition to their already awesome VOIP service. However, The service lacked integration with LocalPhone Numbers (I have a UK number), which means I had to add my mobile number in order to send an SMS. Guess, Localphone realised this soon enough. They have now added bunch of new features which also includes sending SMS from your localphone numbers.
1) SMS Your Direct Dial Contacts: Users in the UK can now send SMS messages to Localphone Direct Dial numbers and the message will be forwarded on to the corresponding contact. There is no extra charge for using this service, but standard SMS rates apply. Did you get this feature? Its like you added your mom's phone number in your direct dial and Localphone gave you a local number to call her. You can now send SMS to that local number and your SMS will automatically reach your mom's number. Great feature for sending SMS abroad easily
2) SMS History: From now on any messages you send will be recorded and available on your SMS History page.
3) Receive SMS Messages on Your UK Incoming Numbers: If you have a Localphone Incoming Number in the UK you can now retrieve SMS messages too. When a friend sends a message to your number it will be displayed in your SMS History. You can also send SMS’s from your Incoming Number when sending a Web SMS. Localphone is also trying to expand this functionality to more countries.
