Skype now supports 720p HD Video Calling for PCs and HDTVs

HD has already made its way into your living room and now its going to own the VOIP and Video Conferencing market. HD Video Conferencing is already getting popular.

Skype after settling the P2P lawsuit, seem to be back on track with recent news on full SIP compatibility for businesses and most likely for personal accounts soon. AT CES, Skype announced that it will support video calls on PCs in 720p HD format, as well as Skype software embedded into Internet-connected widescreen television sets.

In order to experience Skype HD Video Conferencing, you will need a high-speed broadband connection, an HD Webcam, a PC with a 1.8GHz dual-core processor, and Skype 4.2 Beta for Windows.

Skype has partnered with LG and Panasonic who will bundle skype with their HDTVs.

If you haven't figured out, the 2 most important things you would need to enjoy a true HD conferencing experience is, a great broadband connection and a Skype certified HD webcam. Currently skype has certified 4 HD Webcams and would be available in their skype store: faceVsion Webcam will ship in February 2010 one camera with a microphone ($99) and one without ($69), while In Store Solutions will offer the Freetalk HD Pro ($120) and Freetalk HD Pro Plus ($140), which will both be available in March 2010.
