Voipblast.com Voip Blast SIP VOIP Service Review

If you thought betamax hasn't launched a new VOIP Provider this month, they finally did. Voipblast is the new betamax VOIP Service offering free international calls and cheap international calls around the world.

VoipBlast.com is the new VOIP service by Dellmont Sarl, a betamax group company. As you might have already noticed, Betamax has gone underground with their operations and only launching new VOIP services under the Dellmont Sarl brand name to get away with all the bad publicity with betamax brand.

Voip Blast offers free international calls in over 40 countries worldwide and offers really cheap international calls in other countries including India. It offers 0.007 eurocents to call India which works out to around 0.098 US cents (close to 1 US cents per minute). This gives consumers another VOIP service as competitor to jumblo or actionvoip (both owned by betamax).

However, its extremely important to note that All VoipBlast calls are subject to a 0.039 EURO connection fee. That really make the deal worst. Connection fees are charged for every call not per minute basis.

VoipBlast Free international calls service is also subject to Fair usage policy(FUP) which states that registered users get max 300 minutes per week of free calls, measured over the last 7 days and per unique IP address.

VoipBlast also offers full support for SIP.

Voip Blast SIP Settings:

SIP port : 5060
Registrar : sip.voipblast.com
Proxy server : sip.voipblast.com
Outbound proxy server : leave empty
Account name : your VoipBlast username
Password : your VoipBlast password
Display name/number : your VoipBlast username or voipnumber
Stunserver (option) : stun.voipblast.com

VoipBlast supported codecs:
G.711 (64 kbps)
G.726 (32 kbps)
G.729 (8 kbps)
G.723 (5.3 & 6.3 kbps)
GSMFR (13.2 kbps)

Alternatively, you can use VoipBlast through their voipblast softphone or local access numbers or Web Call or Phone to Phone or via SMS.

VoipBlast also offers a VOIP-Incoming telephone number for only 1 EURO. You can also become voipblast reseller in your country.

Honestly, VOIP Blast could be a good voip service if we ignore the connection fee, but can we ignore 0.039 cents? I guess not. Do let us know your feedback/comments on VoipBlast.

Localphone VOIP Incoming Numbers

Localphone has totally relaunched their cheap international calls website and now everyone can enjoy Localphone VOIP features along with Access Numbers dialing, Calling Card features etc.

I was one of the early users of Localphone VOIP and incoming number (i have UK number). However, most localphone users were not upgraded to VOIP features before this launch. But now you can upgrade your localphone account to enjoy VOIP features. LocalPhone VOIP has added great features giving you full flexibility of playing around with localphone services.

How to upgrade to Localphone VOIP account?

When you're logged into the Localphone site you can upgrade to a VoIP account using the link near the bottom of your dashboard page on the left hand side, or you can see the VOIP option in the menu. Visit that page and then upgrade. As a bonus you can choose a free UK number that people will be able to call your PC phone on.

How can i use Localphone VOIP?

You can setup Localphone VOIP account on SIP Phone, VOIP adapter, SIP softphone or you can also use localphone softphone available on their website. Localphone gives you SIP details, just follow the instructions to setup your account. Extremely well documented tutorials are available.

How can i use a Localphone Incoming Number?

If you get a UK incoming number, whenever you make calls using Localphone. The party will see your number as CID (caller id). This is beneficial coz most VOIP Provider just don't pass CID or pass a random number.

Can i get a incoming number in any other country than UK?

Sure, you can get localphone incoming numbers in a lot of countries. Just go to incoming numbers tab and choose a incoming number in a country of your choice. Remember, there is a cost for each number but it can paid from your localphone credit.

Can i forward calls using my incoming number?

Yes, you can. e.g: if you live in the UK but have family in Australia, you could buy an Incoming Number in Sydney and forward it to your UK mobile. When somebody dials it you’ll receive the call on your mobile, and you’ll only be charged standard rate to the UK. To the caller it will just appear to be a normal local landline number.

Do Let us know your feedback on Localphone and if you still haven't signed up for this awesome cheap international service, Signup today for Localphone.

Will you switch to Vonage World Plan from existing Home Phone Service

Vonage created a lot of buzz for its Vonage World Plan. Especially, amongst the Indians looking to make unlimited long distance calls to India. However, the big question is Will you switch to Vonage leaving your existing Home Phone Service Provider?

Vonage World Plan comes at $25 a month and lets you make unlimited calls to many countries including USA, Canada, Puerto Rico and India. Definately a good deal when you compare it to other Home Phone Service Providers. However there are several questions you MUST answer.

1) is are you willing to pay additional $25 for 5000 minutes of International or domestic calls?

2) Are you going to actually use all 5000 minutes to make the most of this vonage world plan? What is your average monthly call time to international destination?

3) Are you willing to give up your existing home phone provider which in many cases comes as bundled services like comcast etc.

4) Will you break your existing contract with your home phone provider just to let Vonage take a space in your house?

5) Is Vonage World Plan really needed when you can make really cheap calls to India or any other destinations for as low as 1 cent per minute?

Answer these 4 questions and it might help you take a decision. We want to know what you think about switching to Vonage World Plan. Vote for your answer.

Google Voice now offers Free Calls to Canada

google voice
Wohoo! Google Voice offers unlimited free calls to USA since they taken over Grandcentral service. However you couldn't call Canada for FREE but now they started offering free calls to canada from Google Voice.

Official Google Voice Blog mentions that you can now official make free calls to Canada and without paying a penny from your google voice credit.

You can make free calls to canada from your Google Voice account online or from one of Google Voice mobile apps, or by dialing your own Google Voice number from one of your phones and selecting option 2 to place a call.

We wish Google Voice could open up to Canadian users now and they can snatch some canadian DID numbers. Later, slowly open up for more international countries. However, I guess we will have to wait a little longer for Google Voice for Canada.

Vonage World Plan Review Unlimited International Calls to 60 Countries

Most VOIP consumers look for unlimited long distance deals while choosing a VOIP Phone Service. Vonage probably realised this a little late but better late than never. Vonage World Plan will let you make unlimited international calls to over 60 countries including India and many asian/european countries. Before you jump over Vonage, Read our Vonage World Plan Review first before you signup for Vonage.

Vonage is one of america's oldest VOIP Provider and one of early VOIP Providers in the world. VOIP Phone Service or Home Phone Service was synonymous with Vonage. Things changed, Bunch of VOIP providers blasted into the market overstepping vonage on their way up. With bunch of lawsuits to protect and costs increasing Vonage never looked like a serious competitor in last year or so. Then the yearly earnings surprised everyone.

It seems Vonage now wants their own playing field in the VOIP home phone service market and they are all ready grab from other small or large VOIP players by launching a "All you can eat" Vonage World Plan, Hell yeah, Unlimited calls to 60 countries including India (includes mmobile), Malaysia, Kenya and many more. All this under the Vonage World Plan for only $25 per month. Please note it also comes with unlimited USA and Puerto Rico Calls.

Vonage World plan comes with all the basic VOIP home phone service features such as Phone number porting, Voicemail, Caller ID, Call Waiting,Anonymous Call Block and many more.

Before you jump to Signup, You must know the following requirements for Vonage World Plan:

1)You must have a high-speed Internet connection (cable or DSL)
2)You need a U.S. or Puerto Rico shipping address (no P.O Box)

Vonage offers 30 day money back guarantee.

OK, So does VOIP Guide recommend signing up for Vonage World Plan?

Hang on, Many other bloggers would never tell you this but Vonage World Plan comes with unlimited International Minutes. Now Unlimited to what extent?

We did further research and found out that, Vonage considers more than 5,000 minutes per line per month for unlimited residential calling and more than 10,000 minutes per line per month for unlimited small business calling is not to be considered normal use. That means the moment you run over 5000 minutes (Vonage World Plan is residential plan), Vonage will cut you off.

Lets do some calculations for calling India. You pay $25 a month and you will get 5000 minutes per month of calling. $25/5000 minutes means 0.5 cents per minutes which is really cheap.

we advice you to signup for Vonage however you must note that you will be engaged into their yearly contracts and they have the right to drop countries from this plan at any stage during your contract.

iToggler Long Distance Phone Router for Automated International Dialing

Are you using a VOIP service provider which allows calling through access numbers? How about you can automated the access number + PIN process and directly call via your home phone service. Lets find out how you can automate access number based services with iToggler.

iToggler is a nothing but a Long distance Phone router which helps to re-route all your calls through your preferred provider, especially internaitional calls which will help you save money.

I am sure you are confused with what exactly does iToggler do. Imagine you have Comcast home phone service as your landline and you call China or India almost everyday. You obiously woulnd't use comcast digital phone service to make those international calls cause its very costly so you either use betamax service or any local calling card. Most calling cards or even VOIP Providers offer access numbers in various countries and cities. Everyday you need to dial these access numbers and then enter your PIN and wait for several annoying prompts on their IVR systems. Now how about you automate this process with iToggler?

As you can see in this picture, iToggler is a simple router device which sits between your phone and your phonejack. Most importantly, it doesnt need internet service at all that means it will work with any Phone service and its not a SIP adapter. iToggler has no Monthly Fees,Contracts or any Commitments. It does not require any external power and it costs $29.99 only.

iToggler lets you program your international calling provider while setting up the device. iToggler will reroute user's calls with the specified access numbers and PIN codes on long distance calls with a prefix 1 (for domestic) or 011 (for international). However all toll free (1800, 1888, 1877, 1866) + local calls still use PSTN. It also allows Voice prompted programming using phone card's IVR system. That means you can jump through the menus without needing to enter language selection, PIN etc.

For a simple setup, Lets see an example:

If you want to enter the access number 234-567-8888 with language voice prompt option (2 for Spanish), and PIN =98765432:
- To enter the Access number, pick up the phone, Login: enter ***9999 ~du sound) then enter: *01*1*2345678888** “~du” sound then hang up. - To enter language option and PIN, pick up the phone, Login: enter ***9999 (~du sound) then and enter *02*1*2*98765432#** (“ ~du” sound, then hang up.) If the destination number must end with a # (no optional entry), enter # after PIN Number and before ** (“ ~du” sound, then hang up.)

iToggler also offers a more advanced settings for PRO users which lets them get into more details such as DTMF tone handling, IVR Menus etc.

iToggler is definately worth looking at and it has lot of potential for routing calls across Providers and it can be used in many more ways that iToggler team documented its usage. It has given us a platform to play around with routing your calls with no need of internet. It can be used while you are travelling when most hotels charge you heavily for IDD calls and they also charge for Wifi, skip their nonsense and plug in iToggler you are good to Go.

Especially iToggler with Localphone would be a killer combination. Let us know your thoughts on this cool new Long distance phone adapter.

GukPhone.com Guk Phone VOIP Service Review

There aint a lot of VOIP services being launched lately. We didn't notice anything new from Betamax this month however we spotted a new VOIP Service provider called GukPhone.

www.gukphone.com

GukPhone.com a new VOIP service offers cheap international calls through an web interface that means there is no need to download a gukphone softphone or setup gukphone via SIP. GukPhone use the Flash Player 10 for its web based softphone like tringme or flaphone etc.

Gukphone is offering 60 minutes of free international calls to destinations in their world calling package. There are a lot of countries in their world calling package for you to test their VOIP service quality.

How to make calls using Gukphone?

Use international Dial form: Country Code + Area Code + Local Number without any 0 or +, a phone number in Argentina Buenos Aires can look like this: 541145689876, a number inside the US 13124443456, you can call the gukPhone Echo Test by dialing 442012345678 (44 = Country Code 20 = Area Code 12345678 = Local Number)

Gukphone claims to offer a cheap international calls service however their calling rates are way higher than most international VOIP Providers. Calling rates to India are around 5-6 eurocents which is way too high. However, you can always give them a try for their quality and of course those worthy 60 minutes of free international calls.

Which VOIP Provider you use to call India

Cheap Calls to India is a hot market for any VOIP Provider but What do you look for a VOIP Provider when you call India? Calling Rates, Support, SIP access or anything else. Today, You can vote on your preferred VOIP Provider to call India. This would immensely help other people looking for a good VOIP Provider.

The following VOIP Providers are considered for this survey. If you think, i missed a worthy VOIP Provider, do let me know under comments or just go vote on the poll.

1) LocalPhone: The winner of Cheap International Call Provider 2008 offers cheap calls to India. My Vote goes for Localphone.

2) Nymgo: Extremely popular among Indians abroad and offers cheap calls to India. Although, the original India plan has been discountinued.

3) Actionvoip/smartvoip/nonoh/other betamax services: Most of these betamax services offers the best calling rates in the industry but lack support. Widely popular all across the world and mostly in middle east.

4) truroots/reliance india call/airtel call home: All Indian VOIP Providers operating in the international market mostly available in USA, Canada, UK, Singapore and Australia. They managed to grab userbase amongst not to VOIP savvy consumers. I can't believe people paying 5-6 cents to call India. Its as good as daylight robbery.

5) IndiaLd/Indiaminutes: Class 2 VOIP Providers offering cheap calls to India. However received strong negative reviews lately.

Now Vote for your most favorite VOIP Provider to Call India:

Free Automated Phone answering service for small businesses

Most small business switched to VOIP, mostly hosted VOIP services to save money. Today, you might find another great way to cut cost with free phone answering services and save money/resources on call center.

If you are running a retail or services business, you might be getting 30% calls each day asking about your store/office location address, directions to your store or your current promotions? Would you expense your costly call center employees on such calls? Probably not a good idea. How about your setup a phone answering service which handles this type of calls with preconfigured messages.

Most phone answering system obviously comes at a cost however, there is one Free Automated Phone answering service called fongenie. Fongenie lets you setup a phone answering service for your business for FREE (It will be free for limited time).

You have to understand that Fongenie is in early beta and obviously not 100% perfect. But hey its free and it workable for your small business. You can register and then secure a new phone number for incoming calls and enter the phone number for your store/office location. You can offer your office/store hours and closing days. This should setup a workflow to trigger a voicemail instead of actually ringing a call center number.

Most importantly you can improve sales by putting prompts for promotions, discounts which could improve your sales number significantly. On top of that, you can track data through fongenie interface to know how many people called and what they did through the prompts. This should give you some ROI on investments and overall cost effectiveness of using Fongenie.

Fongenie is currently free but soon will be paid service. Monthly plans will cost about $30 for a certain number of incoming calls. Unlimited plans will cost about $150-250 each month depending on the size of the business.

If you own a small business, will you use FonGenie? Do let us know your thoughts on this automated phone answering service.

Bangladesh issues Legal VoIP Provider licences

After cracking down on illegal outfits for over a year, Bangaldesh has finally open its door for legal VOIP play. At last, Its legal to operate as a VOIP Provider as long as you a licensed VOIP operator.

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has announced that it has begun issuing voice-over-internet protocol telephony licences to internet service providers (ISPs). The first batch of 32 VoIP concessions will shortly be followed by more licence awards.

BTRC VOIP License covers international and domestic voice calls over internet and/or managed IP-based networks, including phone-to-phone, PC-to-PC, PC-to-phone and phone-to-PC services only.

What this means to you a VOIP Provider?

If you have any serious customer base in Bangladesh then try to talk to a local ISP who got the license and negotiate for better rates. This has a lot of potential for VOIP Providers like Tpad who operate break-in services. Since PC to Phone and Phone to PC both are allowed. Access number based services like tpad break-in numbers can now run officially. This would be a tremendous addition to the existing VOIP infra.

What does this mean to you as a VOIP consumer?

Well, Lets hope there are more licenses being given away. More competition means cheaper termination prices and in turn it will bring down the calling rates to bangladesh. We expect the calling rates to drop by over 30-50% in next 6 months. Watch out for VOIP Providers like LocalPhone, Nymgo and Tpad to offer some competitive rates in this area.

Do you often call bangladesh? Then we want to know how this will affect your calling pattern to bangladesh. Are you happy with this decision.

What if Skype VOIP Service Closed Down

Skype is facing legal issues over their VOIP Software code with the parent company and if they lose the legal battel, it might be an end of skype, the world's most popular VOIP service.

What will you do? Can you believe a life without skype? Well those who are familiar with VOIP, would likely to switch to other VOIP Providers but those who have no idea what VOIP is or rather synonym skype to internet telephony would need more help to get over the skype phenomenon.

Today we have thousands of VOIP Providers operating in the market still I believe skype is amazing and one of finest VOIP applications ever built. Thanks to its peer to peer technology and proprietary audio codecs which gives the highest audio quality. People swear by Skype's voice quality and its a benchmark to analyse a VOIP Provider's call quality.

I want to know which VOIP Service will you use if Skype goes down the hill.

free long distance phone service from USA

We discussed about 1-800-FREE-411 a while back which became one of the most widely used free international calls service in USA. Today we look at another similar service which lets you make free long distance calls after listening to advertisement.

A US company, Phad communications announced a advertisement based free long distance phone service. As you may know, calling across US states is not FREE unless its covered under your home phone service plans. Phad communications leverages on this and offers this long distance calls service. They would first only offer calls to any US Number from a US number and later plan to extend the service to call mexico.

How can i use this free long distance service.

You need to call their access number 1-800-980-PHAD (7423), or 1-800-981-PHAD (7423) for Spanish, enter a destination number and listen to up to 30 seconds of audio commercial messages. Its best to dial a toll-free number from your residential phone line because cell phone carriers might charge for toll-free calls.

How long can i talk with 1-800-980-PHAD ?

When you are done listening to the advertisement. PHAD will automatically give you a 10 minutes talktime credit for that call and you can talk for upto 10 minutes. The call will disconnect after 10 minutes but you can repeat the procedure again for a new call.

Phad uses your area code and exchange of the originating call and inserts an appropriate audio advertisement.

Do let us know your feedback/comments on PhadCom 1-800-980-PHAD Free long distance phone calls service.

Skype expands skypein virtual numbers amid legal issues

World's most widely used VOIP Service, Skype is hit by legal issues and this time it might lead to a skype closedown but skype's clocks is still ticking with new features.

As you might alreayd know, Skype of uses peer to peer technology for VOIP. Now this peer to peer technology is proprietary piece of software code licensed to EBay (parent company of Skype) by a company called Joltid. Joltid now claims that EBay has violated unspecified terms of the applicable licensing agreement and is therefore suing EBay to regain exclusive rights to the code. EBay however denies breaking any of the provisions of its contract with Joltid and warns that if EBay loses its legal rights to the software then “Skype’s business as currently conducted would not be possible.”

Does that mean Skype would be closed down? Oops, we don't know yet but this legal battle would be as interesting as Google Vs Apple & AT&T over Google Voice.

Guys at Skype , however are not taking a chance and reportedly developing their own piece of code to replace this peer to peer technology. However it won't be easy for skype to build this so soon with beta testing and lot more to achieve before it becomes a stable product.

People at skype business side are however expanding their reach with skypein and have added South Africa, Netherlands and Malta to the skypein country where you can get a skypein number. If you wanted to own a number in any of these countries, this is your chance to grab a skypein number.

Unfortunately there is still no skypein for canada yet and users in canada are screaming for one. Wonder why skype has never managed to get skypein in canada.

How to use Google Voice VOIP as Windows Mobile App

A few VOIP guide readers told me a few days back that Google Voice will simply overtake all VOIP Providers in coverage and popularity. They were so right. We today look at how to use google Voice on Windows Mobile.

Google Voice doesn't officially have any google voice app for windows mobile app. However, we can build one today!

Now Let's see how to setup Google Voice on Windows Mobile 6.1

1) Download Calling Card 2.0 for Windows Mobile ($4.99)

2) Now you have to setup Calling Card 2.0 with Google Voice

Name: GoogleVoice
Access# 101202303p2 (GVnumber; p=pause; 2=dialout)
Insert: none
Pin: # (Google Voice needs a # in the end)
Insert: none
Intl. Access: blank
Dial Sequence: Phone#+Pin

3) Save the setup and activate. Now in order to use it you must reboot your phone.

You are now ready to use Google Voice from your Windows Mobile.

3Jam a Google Voice alternative review

Google Voice is certainly making headlines across the world. Why not? Its one of the most coolest VOIP Phone Services to hit the market. However people outside USA ain't yet lucky enough to use Google Voice.

Google will certainly open up Google Voice to the world, but when? No one knows the answer. Till Google decides to get out of the US Beta of Google Voice, another VOIP service provider is trying to sneak into the market with almost the same features. Its called 3Jam.

Although 3jam has been around since 2006, its recently caught up media attention. Lets quickly look at what 3Jam offers:

3jam

1) A 3Jam Virtual Number like google voice number but you can port your own number as 3jam number unlike google voice. You can also choose a new number.

2) Route calls to Skype/IM.

3) Call forwarding and simultaneous ring

4) Voicemail with visual transcription (Very similar interface to Google Voice Inbox)

5) The bad part-3Jam is not FREE. 3Jam isn't Google who can absorb cost of running this service. They charge $4.99 per month for a 12 month plan or $8.99 for 1 month plan to use this service.

6) Its available anywhere in the world unlike Google Voice.

Although, 3jam can be close replacement of Google Voice, its still not good enough to beat it. Google Voice will remain as the winner even though apple rejects it :-)

Will you use 3jam over Google Voice or will just wait for Google Voice to open for everyone? Do let us know.
